Road Trip Day Eighteen

So it's Rebecca again. Chuck's a little fried on blogging and I'm discovering I quite like it. This morning we reluctantly broke camp and departed Rocky Mountain National Park.

The drive to Santa Fe was uneventful, but long. The only real traffic was through Denver and Chuck had the pleasure of manning the wheel.

There were some wildfires burning in the mountains near Southern Colorodo. We'd heard about them, but were surprised we could see them from I-25.

We arrived in Santa Fe around 6:00 and were thrilled with the character and beauty of our hotel (La Fonda). Normally, we would never be able to afford such a high end hotel right on the square, but my brilliant husband discovered that La Fonda is under construction, and was therefore able to get a great deal. Here's the view from our balcony.

We were able to fit in a nice swim before dinner and were the only people in the pool.

After several nights of camping dinners and with so many delicious food options, we were a little overwhelmed with where to eat, but finally settled on Tomasita's. It was a beautiful night for the 15 minute walk to the restaurant.

Sadly, we neglected to take any pictures of our delicious New Mexican food, so here's a shot of my handsome husband instead.

Tomorrow we head to a city we know well, Albuquerque!
