Road Trip Day Thirty-Four

It's Calvin blogging again. I was hoping to avoid having to blog a second time, but my luck has run out and I have to blog about our trip to Mt. Rushmore.

We woke up on day 34 in Devil's Tower. We took down our tents and started driving to Rushmore. We left around 10:30 and arrived around 1:30.

We decided to eat lunch in the cafeteria.

Afterwards, we bought ice cream made using Thomas Jefferson's original recipe.

Then we walked the Presidential Trail, a short trail which went down in front of the monument.

After walking the trail, we went back to our car and started driving to Deadwood, South Dakota. We were staying in a KoA that day, and when we got there we found that it was on a hill, with our Kabin at the top of the hill.

We stayed there until 7:00, when we took a shuttle into Deadwood. Deadwood is a Western themed town, and the street the shuttle dropped us on was lined with saloons.

We ate dinner at a Chinese restaurant called Ms. Kitties'. After that, we took the shuttle back to the KoA and got ready to sleep.

That's about all we did on day 34.

Hi Calvin and company. Nice job on the blog Calvin. It sounds and looks like you had a great day getting up close to those famous old monuments. They’re quite striking aren’t they! You didn’t get in any wild-west gun fights with any bad hombres, and that’s a good thing since we want to see you again and soon! ! ! . . . . . . Love Grampa

How was the ice cream? I would have been a little worried standing under the heads like that. After all look at what happened to the Old Man On the Mountain a few years ago. Deadwood looked really fun! Can’t wait to read about your next adventure!
